This piece by Stacey MacNevin was created as part of a series "No other colour but white has the power to both inspire awe and terror in us. You can’t mix it by mixing other colours, it’s a little exclusive and neurotic. It lights everything it touches, even the darkest colours and will always, with colour start moving towards black. It’s fascinating that one colour can be so multifaceted, seeming to mean opposing things, like how it’s been long connected to money and power but also to hope and peace. How to achieve it from natural substances requires much processing. It is abstract, secular and modern. You cannot hide on it. The pinks and yellows and blues represent the vibrant optimism and calm."
